A couple of us enjoyed a proper Mac love fest yesterday. We went “ooooh” , “aaah” and “ooh shiny” for about 2 hours as one after another the latest hard and software goodies from Apple were rolled out live (and live blogged) at the Worldwide Developer Conference here in San Francisco.
One thing that brought me back to reality in the best possible way was one of the iPhone applications mentioned. Critical Care from Airstrip Technologies sends real-time medical data to the iPhone.
This is by no means the first medical app on the iPhone, nor are HCPs new to smartphones (thank you to my colleague Jon Moss for the link).
What is note worthy how ever is that the iPhone apps aimed at HCPs are moving away from the basic directory and search apps. A pharmaceutical directory is all well and good, but how does it relate to the patient in front of you? Critical Care, and future applications, can answer that question.

This app looks amazing. A very slick UI and so useful.
Monitoring within the hospital environment is great, but with the acceleration of a fast and robust 4G network, monitoring anywhere is even more exciting!
